Communication

Who would we choose to have a one to one with? Our families? Our friends? – A relative who lives away? Perhaps we would like to talk with someone famous? Our favourite footballer or pop star? It’s good to talk – so the phone companies tell us – we have our mobile phones – our satellite links – cable connections – the internet –

People from the other side of the globe can talk to us. In today’s world – communication is important to us – Its important to God as well

How responsive are we ? How good are we at hearing and responding to what people tell us? – If you asked a door to door salesman that question after a day of selling in Lymm he’d probably claim that most of us were stone deaf – and not interested – at least in his products – When confronted with God’s word would we be equally as deaf?

Warning signs – do we take them seriously? – Do this – do that – Don’t do this – don’t do that – Don’t smoke – don’t take drugs – Eat healthy food – take plenty of exercise – Important advice that can make a difference to our lives and the lives of those around us – but how much of it goes in one ear – and out the other – Sometimes its how the message is given that helps us take notice –

So are we getting the message? – If you’ve got a mobile phone or a computer – or a TV for that matter – you’ll no doubt get loads of them – text messages – e-mails – telephone calls – adverts – People trying to tell us what to do – what to buy – and how to live – Sometimes it takes an enormous act of will to resist – sometimes what’s on offer can truly be life changing – and it takes an enormous act of will to accept –
